no proposals for now, just thanksProposalsIndex ->

apparently a new discussion board has appeared over night that has wiped out all the rubbish we previously posted here? that is cool! every two or three years someone should this way clean up after us. :)

plus, our ratings have apparently been fixed tonight. is it possible that a totally new algorithm is in use now that gives more weight to actual games played in teamleague? very nice, i checked a few people quickly, and my impression is that the new fixed ratings come closer to our 45 45 strength.

so - no proposals for now, just a big thanks to everybody involved! :)

Huge accolades to Fernbap for the changes (he will not toot his horn, so I will.)

The changes will take some adjusting, and the old information will be posted later under "Archives."

Spam on this discussion board will be largely a thing of the past.

The changes in the fixed ratings algorythm are due to seberg and his bot, i might add.

Very nice changes, both to the rating system and the forum. Thank you!

I have to agree with pchesso on all counts. Spam should now be eliminated (wonderful!), more people should be willing to communicate (no more extra registration step), and even the fixed ratings look to be more accurate! Great job fernbap, jaberwock, seberg, and other organizers.

While he shuns the spotlight, I add smallblackcat as a very important co-conspirator.
And, yes, great thanks to seberg for his bot magic on ratings.

Hmm, this one's a little odd though: "FlorinC Joined. Rating is: 1629"

Not that it matters since he doesn't play anymore.

gaelleg with his 1523 rating in site Teams section looks odd as well. And he is definitely an active player.

Oooops, sorry, it looks like gaelleg has removed-and-recreated his FICS account...

Well, actually, the ratings should still be accurate even if inactive... hmm. Maybe there's a division of some x number of games but the calculation doesn't grab x games if they haven't been played recently?

"Should be accurate" is our intent, but dealing with statistics and rating data never seems to be as easy as we would like, and we have some sharp minds working on this.

This will always be a work in progress, as with many aspects of TL, and we still appreciate your players' input!

Always willing to help. Let me know if there's something I can do beyond randomly noticing oddly ranked players.

Just to let you know the rating is still off for some. I guess gaelleg was reset, so that makes sense, but FlorinC still has a very abnormal Fixed Rating by any measure, and if just he is off, that means many others are likely off as well.

We've looked into FlorinC, and a few similar cases. They are not 'just off', it's simply that some inactive members (i.e. people who haven't logged on to FICS for over a year) are not getting their current standard rating calculated properly (seems to be taken as 0). If they do come back, we can recalculate their ratings with a simple command.

Thank you for all, jaberwock(*)! I have learned a lot by the way you governed teamleague. Enjoy the sabbatical! :)

Oh, and where we're at it: You are great, too, wmahan and black cat. I mean it! Very good admins to this league.

Also wish to echo the thanks to the tireless work our volunteers put into this league!

Without the TDs, captains, and programmers, TL would not be what it is.
