I invite you to The Eye of the Tigran 2017 open knockout tournament.
Last day to give notice of your participation is 25th december 22:00 system time. Give notice under this thread, that is theeyeofthetigran.boards.net/thread/new/73.
The spirit of the tournament is to have fun and enjoy chess. If anyone does something to jeopordize this, I may drop participant or participants from the competition.
Tournament structure
First round starts 27th of december 22:00 system time. In each round participants have one week to play the game.
Each round consists of 20 20 game. Lowest rated player plays with white. If players end up in draw, players play pair of 3 2 blitz games with one colour each untill they find difference in their score. Win is counted as one point, draw half a point and loss no points.
The knockout pairings will be organized depending on how many participants there is. In case there is enough players the players might be divided in several sections. Highest rated player in the section will meet the lowest rated player in first round etc.
If all participants have teamleague rating from the same season that rating will be used as rating for players.
Negotiations
Games may be negotiated on theeyeofthetigran.boars.net forum under thread of the round and the pairing. Negotiations can be held also as players see fit including messages, chat, emails. Note that in that case disagreements can not be solved by third party.
Sadly because of the tournament format, if players can not find time for game, both players will drop from the tournament. So it is recommended that every effort is done to make the game happen. Blaming outher participant of not agreeing for bad time see the note about tournament spirit. If in the final round mutual time can not be found the first place will be shared by two finalists.
