Reminder about upcoming time changesT69Index ->

posted at 2017-10-20 07:23 by kurumim

I think it's a good idea for captains to remind their players about the following time changes:

1) On Sunday Oct 29 (round 1) daylight saving time ends in almost all European countries, Israel, Lebanon, Morocco and Mexico;

2) On Sunday Nov 5 (round 2) daylight saving time ends in the US and Canada, which means server time will change (-1 h).

This should reduce the chances of miscalculations during negotiations in the first two rounds and consequent late arrivals (and unfortunate forfeits).

Cheers and good season to all! :)
Roberto.

P.S.: On Sunday Nov 5 server time changes at 2:00 h ST, i.e., it gets back to 1:00 h.

Excellent reminders, thanks Beto. I'll post an update to the homepage next week to reflect these time changes.

Would it be possible to advice TDs to write in beginning of these two rounds of this issue? Or include this info in the messages of two first rounds? If not, captains could certainly write this as well.

It would be simpler just to send a mass message to all game forums at the start of rounds 1 and 2. In fact we've done this in the past, but we may have forgotten last time.

That would be superb.

why worry!if we keep server time in consideration.or still there could arise confusion about time?

The worry comes out of not anybody taking the track of the summer time changes. There is first round when your own time might change and server time doesn't and second round where server time changes and your own time might not change.

It might sound trivial but actually these confusions are very common.

Yes, plus the trick is that it's one time when you're scheduling your game (middle of the week) and it may be another one when your game starts (Sunday or later), so you need to calculate the change while negotiating.

Yes you are right.I did not think that.everyone should be aware of that.

Ok, all game forums have been advised of the DST changes for round 1, and there is a more thorough announcement on the homepage. I trust this will be sufficient to keep everyone aware of the changes.
