I'm suggesting a $2000 prize fund that I have raised from interested friends of FICS for the next TL.

$800
$600
$300
$150
$150

Simple rule, you must have played a minimum of 3 Tl's or meet an admins approval of 5+ years experience. Money has been raised, and up for taking. I'll leave this in jaberwocks, cats, or krm's hands if this should be considered.

It is quite impressive raising that much money. I can imagine that if asking TL admins first thing they'd use money for you'd get answer of server costs.

It is definitely well intentioned although thinking as a captain who may win it I can see some issues. For example asking players for their bank details could be awkward (I'd probably opt for gift vouchers) and additional fun of how to split it (e.g. games played, points scored etc) could cause a bit of tension. I'm not sure if people would act differently too since if I have a casual game at my club or play in a congress where money is on the line I'll play with a different mindset. I'm not sure if sections cut off could get more controversial if we ended up in a situation where top team in a section has good chances of winning money. There is also the issue that if it's for 1 TL cycle only then next TL season we'll have people complaining there is no prize money.

On the other hand I could see how lure of prize money could potentially get more people to play in TL.

As an aside if I was to suggest a good place for prize money I'd actually suggest it for Game of the Week. Anyone can win it although it does have drawback of being a bit of a popularity contest of sorts.

I'm not an admin in TL or FICS so money definitely shouldn't be left to me if they do take it up. Jaberwock and smallblackcat are TL admins.

2000 bucks for winning.
Now THAT's a strong move. :)

Hi,

such initiative is always welcome but we have also to consider the open source/free idea behind FICS.

I wonder what the admins have to say about it.

Kind Regards
John
