Friendly games forum?...ProposalsIndex ->

Would a new "Friendly games" forum be useful to people? I am asking because it is relatively difficult to find a slow game on FICS spontaneously.

Anyone in need of a friendly game could post an ad like:
"Sat or Sun at 12:30-14:00 st, 90 30 or 45 45, 1800-2100."

The above could be put into topic of a thread for quick reading.

Of course, one could add whatever to their wishes, e.g., one wishes to play a specific colour, or a specific opening, or rated/unrated etc.

To make it clear: the TL website would be only an advertisement board. The TL staff would take no responsibility for such games.

How would this work? For instance, if I post a standing ad that has been succeeded by 5 more posts, wouldn't my standing ad be lost? How does one find the many current posts by game seekers?

I like Michal's idea. I have seen other sites with a similar feature utilize a calendar interface, instead of a board. So, someone could post a "match seek" for, say, 7/16 at 14:00 - 16:00 server time for a 45/45 game. Then, anyone interested could look at the calendar (defaulting to whatever the current day is) and respond.

KayVee: ideally one would edit the subject when they found an opponent, but I have realized that editing subjects is not possible at this forum. I didn't consider the possibility of standing ads, which is a nice one. Anyway even I had to go through last 20 ads, it would be better than hoping that someone would appear at FICS.

But perhaps Tim's idea with calendar is a better one?

I'm not ignoring the topic... I have some ideas I need to sort through... stay tuned.
