I thought it would be prudent to advise captains and players that T56 is set down to start on October 22nd. However, this leaves only a short break between the current tourney and the next.
It isn't really possible to shift T56 back any further, because its generally not good to have clashes with the end of year holidays. Therefore, captains need to be aware that the sign-up period for T56 will begin almost immediately after the end of T55, and will probably be less than the usual two weeks.
We can re-set ratings as soon as the last game of T55 is played, and the sign-up period will probably be from October 9th to October 17th. Hopefully, nothing else will happen to alter this schedule, as we really have limited options with the time available.

Thanks for letting us know. Having said that considering fact that it looks like FICS has been hacked again this could delay things again and considering problems TL had just before that this round and possibly next is going to be pretty chaotic.
Anyway what I was going to suggest is that if we are very tight for time would 6 team groups instead of 8 team groups work on a one off basis since that way you only need 5 rounds + playoff instead of 7 + playoff. Obviously it we can get a full length season that's best although if that's not an option even with limited signups it's better than nothing.

To answer your point about having smaller sections: the great advantage of having 7/8 team sections is that they can work with any number of team entries above 41. 6-team sections mean we would need a precise multiple of 6, and 5-team sections are awful.
I suppose we could just not hold playoffs in T56, but most people agree that they enhance the tourney.

Good question. We haven't decided yet, but we should be able to put together a rough calendar for all 2014 tourneys shortly. The last week of January/first week of February are the most likely dates for the start of play.
